Restitution Workshop on Gender, Conflict and Peace Building
In line with Hope for the Needy Association's Workshop on "Gender, Conflict and Peace Building" which we were honoured to be a part of, we recognise the need to relay the knowledge, skills and best practices gained in the areas of Gender, Peace and Conflict, to other girls, women and men of communities in and around Bamenda, in a bid to join the drive towards Sustainable Development for all, especially in conflict stricken areas like the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon.
In this Light, we are Organising a one-day Restitution Workshop on Sunday 30th June 2019, as from 11AM at the Nkwen Baptist Centre Hall, which will include 4 Major Training sessions on the areas: Gender, Power and Conflict; Gender-Based Violence in Conflict and Gender in Peacebuilding.
If you are a young Girl, Boy, Woman or Man living in and Bamenda (Bambili, Bambui, Nkwen, Bafut, Bali), then join us this Sunday as we discuss these issues plaguing our communities.
We believe that addressing Gender Inequality is a key precedence for eliminating Poverty and achieving Sustainable Development. We also understand that a disproportionate and increasing number of communities served, live in fragile and conflict affected situations and so, to address Gender Inequality adequately, there is a need to understand how violent conflict impacts gender relations, norms and roles, and vice versa.
Each training session shall take a maximum of one hour thirty minutes, facilitated by Women Leaders who attended the HOFNA Workshop with main objective to relay the skills, knowledge and best practices relating to Gender, Violence and Peace, in a bid to empower young girls, women and men as key actors in fighting Gender-Based Violence and Promoting Peace in our communities of the North West Region of Cameroon.
The overall expected outcomes will be:
- 100 young people being equipped with the skills necessary to manoeuvre daily issues relating to gender inequality, violence and peacebuilding in the North West Region of Cameroon.
- A network of young people dedicated to preventing, identifying and reporting cases of gender-based violence in Bamenda.
The main activities will consist of trainings adapted from HOFNA’s 2019 Training Manual on Gender, Peace and Conflict in Three major traing sessions as listed in the following Modules:
- Module 1: Gender, Power and Violent Conflict
- Module 2: Gender-Based Violence in Conflict
- Module 3: Gender and Peacebuilding
We recognise that the fight against Gender-Based Violence is not exclusively for women, reason why a fair proportion of the target audience will be made of boys and men, for better results.
